Leif Firnhaber has been professionally active as a movement artist (Dancer,
choreographer, assistant rehearsal director, teacher, Stage Performer) and Photographer.
He considers himself a heretic investigator of Water, Plants (aromatics), Martial Arts (Silat Tao), Materialistic and no-matter heterodox insights for personal and environmental harmony.
"I have danced for many years in different ways, taught, investigated, dedicated myself to movement, photography, observation, interaction and immersing myself into natural environments. I have collaborated with many beautiful, talented and conflicted people, learned many things about myself and the world. I stay in love with movement and am quiet in stillness, will dance until my last day and try to breathe fresh air (when possible), drink clean water, smell the fresh green leaves and dance barefoot on the earth, jump over rocks, see the sunset and the sun rise.
While working with dance companies over many years, I have created performances and connections to many artists from all over the world, like me. There is a special link to South America, where I was born... it feels so alive and vibrant. In the past years I had several projects in my country of Birth, Paraguay, as well as in Mexico, Belgium and Spain. From breakdance, to contemporary dance, to photography, to aromatherapy, to magnets, water and back to humans, off to nature."
I work on reflecting my activity back into my environment, through what and how I do, collaborate with friends I can learn from.
These past years I have collaborated much with Saïd Gharbi, my deer friend who is an actor and a dancer and lost his sight when he was young. He has helped me open my eyes in the dark, a parallel world of sounds and space, different from the visual reality that we are rushing around with. We have worked on a project that we couldn't do for political reasons, as many other. Gave many workshops together. Had a lot of fun. Also with my friend and mentor Carmelo Fernandez, with whom I have dance, dreamed and shared so much. With Claudio Conti, my friend and master for martial arts, particularly Silat from Indonesia. With my colibri friend Citlali Mendez, with whom I am producing a documentary and several other vibrant projects."
